Simple mixing is great for print and illustration, but for UI design you usually want a balanced scale. That is why we also generate a perceptual 50 to 950 scale in OKLCH, where each step looks evenly lighter or darker and the chroma tapers naturally at the extremes. Export the scale as CSS variables, SCSS, JSON or a Tailwind config.

Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between a tint, a shade and a tone?
A tint is a color mixed with white, a shade is mixed with black, and a tone is mixed with grey. Tints get lighter, shades get darker and tones get more muted.
Is PaletteKit free?
Yes. Every tool is free with no account, no watermark and no sign-up. Copy codes and download exports as often as you like.
Are my images and colours uploaded anywhere?
No. Everything runs in your browser. Photos you extract colours from and palettes you save never leave your device.
Can I use the colours commercially?
Yes. Colours and colour codes cannot be owned by us, and anything you create is yours to use in client work, apps, print and branding.
