We sample the pixels and group them with k-means clustering in the OKLab color space, which matches how people perceive color differences better than plain RGB. Choose between 3 and 10 colors, see what share of the image each color covers, click any point of the image to pick an exact pixel, then open the result in the palette generator to refine and export it.

PaletteKit has no server-side processing. Colors, palettes and images stay in your browser; saved palettes live in local storage on this device only.

Frequently asked questions
What image formats work?
Anything your browser can display: JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF, AVIF and SVG. Large images are downscaled before analysis, which keeps it fast without changing the dominant colors.
Why do I get slightly different colors from other tools?
Every extractor groups pixels differently. We cluster perceptually and report each color as the average of its group, so you get colors that actually appear in the image rather than over-saturated guesses.
Is PaletteKit free?
Yes. Every tool is free with no account, no watermark and no sign-up. Copy codes and download exports as often as you like.
Are my images and colours uploaded anywhere?
No. Everything runs in your browser. Photos you extract colours from and palettes you save never leave your device.
Can I use the colours commercially?
Yes. Colours and colour codes cannot be owned by us, and anything you create is yours to use in client work, apps, print and branding.
